Before you download the game simply take the option of direct download on PC.A major goal of our laboratory is to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying the function of specialized mammalian tissue. To facilitate this objective, the research efforts of the laboratory are focused on the development and characterization of cDNA clones which represent genes expressed in specialized tissues or cells. These cDNA clones, when reintroduced into cells, can lead to the identification of the function of the gene product. To date, we have isolated a number of cDNA clones that correspond to genes expressed in different regions of the rat nervous system. Our laboratory has also isolated cDNA clones that correspond to genes expressed in non-neural tissues. In the past year, we have been successful in identifying the function of the gene products for these cDNA clones. The cDNA clones corresponding to the genes expressed in neurons and their specific functions are: 1. A cDNA clone encoding a protein product which functions as a high affinity receptor for nicotinic cholinergic ligands. 2. A cDNA clone encoding the vesicular acetylcholine transporter (VAChT). 3. A cDNA clone encoding a potassium channel. 4. A cDNA clone encoding a protein that is associated with high affinity choline uptake into a subpopulation of neurons. We have also identified a cDNA clone which may encode the gene product for a Ca2+ permeable non-selective cation channel. The gene product has been localized to regions of the brain which are important in the regulation of food intake. This cDNA clone has been transfected into cells of both CNS and non-CNS origin. A number of interesting changes in the properties of the channel have been observed in these cells. In addition, we have also isolated a cDNA clone encoding a protein product which is associated with the regulation of the expression of the brain cholinergic phenotype.The present invention relates to a new and distinctive soybean cultivar, designated S120108.
